Kollmeder Schmiede- und Presswerk GmbH & Co. KG, based in Ergolding, Lower Bavaria, uses the efficient range of services offered by the Hoffmann Group and manufactures seamless rolled rings of up to 15 tonnes in weight and 7 m in diameter. In doing so, Kollmeder sets stringent requirements when it comes to selecting the materials: nickel-based alloys, aluminium, stainless steels or heat-treatable steels.
All necessary machining steps are carried out on in-house systems – from forging, rolling, drilling and turning to milling. In this way, Kollmeder is able to guarantee its customers an accuracy of 5 μm in the manufacturing process. The rings are used as gearwheels in large-scale wind turbines, as connecting rings for launch vehicles, in the food industry, and in mechanical engineering and machine fabrication. Seamless rolled rings up to 7 metres in diameter – thanks to the GARANT HB 7010-1.
